Default Climate control display broken???

I have a 1995 A4 with dual screen climate control.

I had the battery changed on the car the other day and ever since I've noticed the display on the climate control acting strangely.

Sometimes the display corrupts or the display vanishes completely. The CC system still works though and the buttons still cotrol it, I just can't see the fan speed or temperature etc.

This is normally around the time of starting the car after it's been stood over night or for a few hours. If I run the car for a while the display gets brighter and is fine.

I thought it may be the battery, since it only started happening since the battery was changed, but no other parts of the car are showing any problems at all.

Has anyone seen this problem or know what it is?

Thanks

Yeah I have had the same problem.. I have a 96 A4 and one of the lights on the CC display went out. So I had to pull it all out and replace it. It hadnt had the problem before but once i put it all back together it started doing that. And what i had to do was pull it out and put it back together so it had a better connection clean the connections if you must. Best of luck let me know if you get it fixed or not

My backlight seems to work regardless on the display, it's the LCD characters themselves that are playing up.

So I sometimes get a lit screen on both displays without no text at all.

Do you think your fix will still work?

No.

Our problems are either lose connectons behind the unit, or worse still a damaged display.

I am going to take a look at mine if I can find how to get beinhd the unit.

Does anyone know how to get behind the climate control display unit??

fairly easy.. all you need to do is remove the radio. Then remove the Trim piece that goes around the radio and the CC and the buttons up top. It should be a 10mm Nut driver to get that out. once you get that out you will see about 4 more 10mm bolts holding the CC in take that out. then the rest should be self expanatory. I might add that mine never started acting up till i messed with it LOL..
