Cigarette Lighter
Having problems with Cig Lighter blowing the fuse looks like the assembly might be bad. I took the center console off but could not figure out how to take the assembly off. The Vehicle is a 2001 1.8T A4. Any help or advice on how the assembly comes off.

RE: Cigarette Lighter
let me know if you get a responce to the question...
My cig lighter is bent out of shape, and so i bought a new "tube" thinking i could just replace the old one in that coin tray in the center console (polly different in my 98.5), however, upon talking to an audi tech, he told me that 1)they never replace just the tube, as you usuaually destroy the console thingy just getting the old one out, thus they just replace the whole unit, and not just the "sleeve", and 2) he'd never actually seen one go bad before on it's own. i'd check your other wiring, to see why you keep blowing fuses.
Have you tried other adaptors to see if those also blow the fuse? it could be your power thingy that you're charging with is causing the fuses to blow.

RE: Cigarette Lighter
No I belive it's not the wiring I used a volt meter and checked contiunity of the positive and the negative portions of the tube. It seem to have a short because I have continuity with the positve and negative side of the tube. When I disconnet the plug under the center console the 12 volt goes away at the fuse panel so I'm not sure how the initial 12 volt gets to the cig lighter.
