Speaking of higher mileage cars, would you guys recommend a chip such as Neuspeed which (I believe) is .8 bar vs. GIAC or APR which (I think once again) are 1.0 bar. Is there a noticeable difference in reliabilty for a higher mileage engine?

Fieldy,
The .8 neuspeed is gonna be less demanding on the engine so in that respect, the neuspeed might allow for greater reliability. They are also about 200 bucks cheaper than the competition. Whether you get a GIAC, APR, or Neuspeed is up to what you want out of your car. GIAC is in your face power. APR is a silky transition power upgrade. Neuspeed is kinda the baby rattle of chips but it offers an increase in power for those that just want a little more out of their experience but aren't lookin to make a statement. Personally, I'd go for broke and get a GIAC or APR..both seem to have huge followings.

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say that most Audi's that are chipped are higher mileage vehicles. Most are out of warranty since chipping your car can result in voiding your warranty.

Yea, initially I was leaning towards the NEUSPEED Transverse, but I do definately need that extra power. My friend has the 05 Mustang, and lets just say I need to do something fast so I can keep up with him. Before I get the chip, I have the NEUSPEED exhaust coming (long story, but it was back ordered) which should be installed next week. And at that time I'm gonna order a DV (forge probably) and intake (not sure, evo, injen, etc). With that all in place, I'll go for chip.

What do you think the crank hp differences will be between the GIAC and NEUSPEED chips?

there will be a 15-20hp difference at the crank... between the .8 neuspeed (they also make a 1bar) and the 1.1 bar GIAC/APR

I would'nt be afraid of a 1.0bar or even 1.1bar. Apr and Giac are by far most popular chip tuners and they didnt get there selling cheap stuff. 20hp is alot and you wil get bored of the .8 the day you get it.
