Default chip question

im hearing alot about chips, and now im a little perplexed. I never planned to get one, cause i dont care TOO much about speed or power. BUT i guess for the money, itd be silly not to get one. now i have to ask... what are some good brands for a 2006 2.0t. also, would i be able t install it myself, (i know little about engine work), so how hard would the install be. thats about it, any help would be great.

To me the best chip in the market is Unitronic. Is by far better than GIAC or any other chips. Look them up at unitronic.ca

I am kind of in the same boat. Don't you have to have the programmer or expensive equipment to do it yourself? I would never do it but does anyone know about those chips advertised on Ebay for $50?

Don't even think about those chips on ebay. the are just junk. The guys at unitronic will write a file for your car depending on where you live. I promise you will be much happier with an unitronic chip. call them and they will tell you where you can get one.

No doubtGIAC makes good chips, my thing is that unitronic chips offer power all through out the rpm range, while other chips is a sudden ruch of power that comes somewhere during acceleration. On my99 A4I get way more power at high rpms that i did with GIAC, and it's even power from the moment you hit the gas all the way until red lining.

Bro...I'm not knocking your unitronic chip...all I was saying is GIAC makes personalized programs too....From what I have read on the forums GIAC offers really good low RPM gains. But hey my car isn't chipped so I don't know. I could very well be wrong.

It also depends on styles. There are guys that like chips that are more aggresive at the beggining and not so much at the end. After trying some different chips, I personally like unitronics chips because the power is more spread and not just at the beggining.
