I want to get my A4 chipped with a GIAC tranny and ecu chip + install my turbo boast monitor i have. I want thinking of going to a local shop in queens ny call tyrolsport...how much do you think the two chips+turbo boast installations will cost me?

Its going to cost probably close to $800-$900 for all parts and labor.
chip:$550
tip chip:$250
Boost Gauge:$50-$150

Just expect to pay $1000 and be happy if its less.

 

yea if you set aside $1000 you will be happy when its less than that

hey d_maniac is the install and all goes well let me know. I was looking to get myself chipped there as well in about a month.

But only I thought the GIAC chip was $250?? Where is the $550 coming from?

 

i think the $250 is the "tip chip" and the $550 is the ECU chip. if you guys want to save some cash search around the classifieds here and other audi forums and find a used chip with ecu for sale... you can usually get it for like $400 and then you can sell your ecu or keep it as a backup and put it in yourself in 5 minutes.

there's also a DIY on the boost gauge install which i did two weeks ago. it was really easy and actually kind of fun to do. and a good way to keep yourself busy for about two hours and save about $50....

 

tyrolsport is where i had my a4 chipped with the giac software the guys there were very good, i would definatly recommend them to anyone else.

 

so what would be the difference between an ecu chip and a tip chip? since I have tiptronic why would I get one over another?

How much did it cost you at tyrol?

 

The tip chip is for people with tiptronic (automatic) transmissions.. It makes the tranny shift quicker in tip mode with hardly any delay.
The ecu chip is for the engine and is what adds the 40-50 hp/tq.
You wouldnd get one OVER the other, you can get the ecu chip without the tip chip, or you could get the tip chip without getting the ecu chip, or both, they do two different things.
