Checking out a Car
hey guys,
I am going to check out a 2001 A4 1.8T down in CT in a few hours, today I am not able to have a mechanic put it up on the lift and check it out.. so I come here asking
What noises should I look out for, and anything else? Any basic Audi stuff to look out for? it has been serviced at 90k and has 96k right now, water pump, clutch, flywheel, slave cylnder, timing belt, pretty much everything this guy has had it done.
I am going to look at how the steering is when I drive it. Anything else I should keep my eye open for...
I appreciate it guys.

RE: Checking out a Car
One thing you should definitely look out for (and avoid at all costs) is any A4 with a SILVER plate around the shifter, with the characters "P R N D D+ D- 2 1" around it. That is bad, and you don't want it. Make SURE it's got the BLACK LEATHER shifter which says "1-2-3-4-5-R" on the top of it.
Oh, and there should be three pedals - if it only has two pedals, that's bad.
