changing headlights
I just bought a 98 audi a4 2.8 this week and already i got a head light out. I love the car i guess its bad luck. I suck mechanically and have very few tools. The audi looks a llot more complex then my honda i just wrote off. Is it worth it to fix the light myself or should i bring it to the dealership and get overcharged a bit ( a lot). Or should i go to a local mechanic and get charged a little less.

RE: changing headlights
so why did you remove the whole headlight assembly? just pop the plastic cover off the back. Then wiggle the wire connector off the bulb prongs. On the driver side you'll have to remove the accordian hose which is easy. Just scrunch it up and it pops out, as does the 90 degree elbow piece.

RE: changing headlights
Hey Josh,
I asked the same question on the forum a week ago. Its really not that difficult at all. I am not mechanically inclined at all and I did the job myself. Also, one quick Q, is it the rightside or leftside of the car that the bulb is out? If it is the left side, then it is really easy. If its the right side then you would have to remove a plastic air pannel to get to the back of the headlights (on left side you dont have too remove anything).
Do a search on the forums, I believe Jestnomen or Brrrman have a posted a step by step procedure for people to read.
