Default Chain noise

What it could be ? Chain loosing or something ? I can hear it when the hood is open (loud).

I do not hear anything while I'm driving tho.

Do I need to replace the chain or something ?

I'm planing to do valve cover gaster, it could be a good time to take care this chain issue.

Any ideas ?

If it's a loud rattle from the cam chain, I'm guessing you've got a bad Cam Tensioner and the chain is running a bit slack. Fairly expensive repair if you can't do it yourself. If you're gonna do the valve gasket, this would definitely be the time to do it.

I've got the same rattle problem, and it really gets a bit loud only when the car is fully warm.

I also have chain noise, but only when my motor decelorates. It sounds like a freestyle bike rolling down the street. Is it easy to change once I get under the valve cover?

sorry to say my friend but your turbo is SHOT. well most likely atleast. same thing happened to me when i let off the accelerator it made a loud chain noise because the turbo wastegate was loose or somethin and not getting a seal and flapping around (hence the chain noise).

ahahahah

No it's nothing to do with turbo. Noise comes from the rear side of the engine which is close to the firewall. It comes from the chain in the engine, not from turbo.

Ya the tensioner has got to be it. I hear its a tedious pita if you havent done it a few times. Maybe try to get some help from someone who has done it before... Cough-CincyTT in Dayton-cough.

Yeah I've heard the same thing...PITA. The part is really damn expensive too...

Your problem isn't coming from the turbo, but if you hear a rattle (sounding like a motorcycle) upon de-acceleration it could definitely be a loose waste gate. Not good if that's your problem...

ill go for the tensioner because its chain noise but im surprised there is no CEL because it would throw the timing out but it could be very minor
