Center Console Removal?
How do i remove the center console. I am installing my shifter an dit says taht if i dont have a shifter plate cover that i may need to remove it and sinc ethe next piece cant come out w/o this i need to remove it. I dont have a little piece that soem cars have that just pops out.

you shouldn't have to remove the center console. Is it the 4 nuts that are 10mm i believe that holds the shifter assembly up. If its those 4 then get a flat wrench and use that for the hard to reach one's. Removing the center console is a pain in the ****, also if you have a telescoping magnet on hand that will save you from having to remove the center console cause you may drop a few bolts and nuts. On the newer a4's i think either 99.5 or 2000 the opening for the shifter is alot bigger at least 1" every which way, the older ones with push-down suck, not alot of room to work with.

Just know that the actual steel, painted frame of the car extends over the nuts you're trying to get off as well. You still won't be able to put a ratchet over them. I think.

the tech write ups to insatll the shifter isnt what i need. I have that from b&m. http://www.bmracing.com/media/products/pdf/25.pdf look at step 4. That wood piece doesnt exist on my car.
