Default CEL and Ticking at Idle

I own a 2001 1.8T Audi with 58000 miles on it. It has been ticking loadly at idle for about a week now and a few days ago it throw a CEL that said the Cam Sensor is malfuctioning. The ticking prosists and only gets worse after the engine gets hot but only at idle.

Any help would be great. If you need more info just ask.

Make sure the electrical connection for the cam sensor is good.

Sounds like the early stages of a slugde kit. I suspect your oil pickup is plugged. The head is the last thing to recive oil resulting in an a ticking from the head and a cam position sensor fault as the cam position is adjusted via a hydraulic tensioner that gets it pressure from the oil system.
