Default CEL P0301

I just got my GIAC chip installed today and when I drove the car home the CEL light came on for cylinder 1 misfire, could this have anything to do with the chip being installed ?

Clear it and see if it comes back on the same cylinder.

I wouldn't think a new chip could cause this.

Sounds like a misfire in cyl 1.

swap coil packs and see if it follows the coilpack. Otherwise, you are probably looking at a bad ignition control module, or injector. You can also check the plug and see if it is wet with gas, eliminating the injector.

You can use a voltmeter to see if you are getting current on that coil pack wire. If not, its the ICM, or really bad wires.

That is probably the bad coil pack. You can confirm the problem clearing the code and moving the coil pack to another cyl. Start the enigne and if the code now shows misfire in another cyl, you have found the problem. Coil pack about 22 dollars.
