Just another one of the many, many reasons to love the b5. (97)

I bet AMZE doesn't have a CF driveshaft in his beloved B6!!!!!

'97 came with the carbon driveshaft, and there is no benefit to switch to the cf. infact, switch to cf on a non '97 or using a '98+ driveshaft on a 97 will only hurt performance.

Wait, how is saving weight not benefiting? They stopped using it because it was expensive, and the 1997 was the lightest production A4 to date.

its not a matte of saving weight, its a matter of the car not being designed to run it, ill try and find the explanation. i read it a while back and was kinda surprised... one sec

if you search the zine there are a few posts talking about how there isn't an real weight difference, and that they aren't interchangeable

if i find the exact post, ill put up a link. i remember doing research about it, because i was curious to see if there were any benefits, etc

there are a few other posts on aw... just search carbon driveshaft and you'll see alot more, but this one is kinda extensive:
http://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/329450.phtml but basically there are a bunch of posts saying that there is no real benefit, as they fail and that they weight just as much as the steel ones (people have apparently compared their weights)

ps there are some people who have done the swap and there are some that say that they arent exactly interchangeable, so i guess if you wanna switch to cf, go for it, but its prob not worth the money to do so...

Evil! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get those CF vinyl decal sheets and wrap mine!
