Default CAR WONT Start HELP!

Ok Guys, I just recently purchased a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro.
I have had it for about a month now and it has been great. However I did have a couple of issues. About a week or two after I purchased the car the CEL came on (didnt blink, was on steady). I was concerned about it, but the car was still running fine so I ignored it. I did find a vacuum hose that had come off and so I replaced that. But today on my way to work I was driving and it made this really weird almost "scratching" noise in the engine. So I pulled over and the Engine just shut off. IT wont start now either!!! The engine turns, but there does not seem to be any spark or anything. I tried to push start it (its a manual), but still no luck!! I suspect a coil packproblem because of the lack of spark, but honestly I have no idea what it is. Any Ideas????

You need a vag-com or OBD tool to check what check engine lightwas. If you do not have them both, then go to advance or autozone they sometimes have loaners that you can use.

Ok, would the CEL codes hold any clue as to why its not starting?? It seems that it is an electronic problem, but I'm not sure. And can I get the codes checked without having to drive the car somewhere?? Since it wont start and all.....

When my car all of a sudden wouldn't start it was because of the TIP(turbo inlet pipe-goes from airbox to turbo) had come off of the tubro. The system was then sucking in unmetered air and not starting due to lack of fuel. I first disconnected the MAF and then it would start so I ordered a new MAF. started looking around and found the tube had fallen off. just search for a local euro shop and have it towed to them since it sounds like the car is stranded on the side of the road.

How many miles on the car? When you crank it, does it sound like a normal engine cranking sound, or does it sound weird? If it's weird, your timing belt broke, and you're looking at an expensive engine repair.

If it's a normal sounding cranking sound, get the codes scanned and that may lend a clue as to what's going on. It could be the engine speed sensor, for example.

Ok, so it looks like it is the Timing Belt!!!! But luckily my father has a friend who is an Audi specialist. (just found this out). But does anyone know if there is any possibility of valves bending due to a timing belt break on the 1.8T model?? I know that the turbo models run at a lower compression than normal, so I figured the chances of this would be slim. Oh and I go that code checked. "Long Term Fuel trim too Lean (Bank 1)" I think this may be a result of that vacuum hose. Anyways, I will keep you guys updated, thanks for the input. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

75% chance of valve damage when the TB breaks, as for the fault erase the fault after the vaccum line was repaired and see if the fault comes back. (when you get the engine running of course)
