My car wont pass smog because my CEL is on and the only code I get is P0507... Idle control RPM too high. Anybody have any idea how to correct this? i have had this code for a while but other than the occasional 1400 idle rpm speed, the car runs good.

Easy fix.

Pull the negative battery cable for a few minutes to clear the codes. Drive to the palce and get the car checked, hopefully it wont come back on before they check it, if it comes back.

Of course, check the items in the previous post that Dave put up to fix it permanently.

Also, make sure you have your radio code in the manual before you do this.

 

1. Im assuming by "passing smog", you mean passing an emmisions test?
2. If so, when the battery is disconnected, it does clear the codes, but results in a "not ready" status. I know that if you did this in Mass, you would not pass emmisions. Using a VAG to clear the codes might work because there will only be one thing with a not ready status as opposed to everything with a not ready status.

I could easily be wrong , but this is the way I understand it.

Avant80@2.6 - I've noticed several times that you have used a camera to take screenshots of your monitior, but if you hit the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard, then paste into photoshop or paint, it will give you a pic of your screen. Much easier than using a camera.

 

car is currently in shop.... replacing thermostat since my current doesnt work also found vaccumm leak near intake manifold... could this cause the code? The shop is estimating 4-500 for repairs i wanna make sure they are the right repairs
