does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem with my 2000 audi a4 quattro if when i am excelerating the car shakes when i get to 80 kms an hour and then quits shaking at 85 kms an hour. i have been told i need a new tie rod. could that be the problem or is there something else that could be??

 

Does it make a clunking sound when you turn your wheel left or right? If so, then that's a good sign your tie-rod ends are going bad.

 

tie rod would definately be a possibility, i have a bad tie rod and this is the cause of my shake..

it could also be the balance of the rims/tires.

 

or you need your tires alligned i have to have this done and my car vibrates and makes a buzzing sound

 

start with the rims - check to see if the balancing weights are still on, check the wear on the tires next, balance them if required. Tie rods ends could be the cause but you should be able to tell by raising the car with the wheel in question flown grab the wheel with both hands at 9 and 3 and try and rock the wheel out of its joint (push with the 9 hand and then reverse) you should feel the tie rod end give like a ball joint but only just a bit. A tie rod thats giving out will have more play. You can compare it to the other side if you need to.
