Thats false. Insurance IS good w/out a police report. In the last six months I have been involved in two non police reported incidents and insurance did not even ask about it.

Figure out who is going to pay for the damage yet? If it ends up being you, you should be able to get it fixed for a lot less then that. I just had my bumper replaced on mine (01 uadi a4) and cost me about $275 for everything. I know a stock bumper is $600 and a stock headlight is $250. But if you go on ebay they have an after market bumper for around $175 shipped (little modification required to your bumper shocks) and you can get a set of halo headlights for around $175. That is how I fixed mine....

in my opinion, a set of ebay headlights is hardly a "replacement"

if this happened the way you said it did...you were moving and this guy opened his door into your car...you got nothing to worry about.

it's 100% his fault. he's already willing to give you his insurance information and pay for the damages. Any court that heard this case would dole out the same penalty - the guy's gotta pay for being an idiot.

it's just an inconvenience for you, but it shouldn't cost you a penny. i don't wanna hear about you laying out a dime for this thing.

good luck.
