Default Can someone explain the control arm/tie rod failures for me?

Can someone explain this, I have the SLOPPIEST damn steering in any car I've ever had. I just had an alignment done and within 2-3 weeks it's gone to crap and pulls to the right very hard. Tire pressure is good (i've had problems with this before).

rx7drifter- what year is car? I have the same problem. My b5 pull slightly to the right and has started to make some noises. There is a recall on them, call audi of america and give them your vin. They will fix it.

I have an 1999.5 Audi A4 1.8tqs, do you know if this affected this year and model? Does the dealer pay for the cost of the repair when it is a recall?

Thanks!

Yes the dealer will pay for the part & labour just go to your local dealer and get them to punch in the V.I.N. to see if your vehicle is one that is covered under the recall

I just replaced both sides front lower link rods. Gets the squeek away. Let me know if you ever found out how far back the do the recall.

I was under the impression that it is a persistent problem across many years...and that you'll end up replacing them multiple times.

me == tie rod ends replaced last summer, rt. inner replaced yesterday. front control arms last summer also at the same time as the tie rod ends.

are you all talking about the car sounding like a cricket chirping at low speeds? I have a 2001 2.8 quattro and thats what mine sounds like. Or is this a different problem?
