I have a 2001 Audi A4 quattro. I have just been told I need to have the cam seals, timing belt, water pump, serpintine belt, valve cover gaskets changed out. It is leaking oil like crazy. my car has 135xxx miles on it. I have been told this is an issue with these cars. I got a quote from a local mechanic but I think it is alot of money. Can anyone give me a rough estimate on how much they think this should cost??

 

My son just bought a 1998 A4 Quattro 2.8 which is needing exactly what your car needs (and for the same reasons too, it's leaking roughly a quart of oil per tank of gas). After a little research which indicates the cost of having the above done at a shop is anywhere between $800 and $1,200, I ordered the parts from Audi Parts - Vw Parts - Audi Parts Vw Parts Kit Company - Blauparts last weekend for $412.90 and am going to tackle the job this weekend.
