Cabriolet: to Trade-In or Not to Trade-In

That is the question... trade in the old A4 2006 Cabriolet FWD, or not? Yes, I want to sell it, once the new 2011 A5 comes soon, but I severely doubt the dealership would offer a "great" price. Fortunately, I don't actually need the cash immediately.
Looking at KBB (and assuming "excellent" condition), the online suggestion is $16,300 for a trade, and about $18,300 for private. The only reason I'm even considering this, is that I'd save $1,000 of the taxes I'd otherwise be paying for the new car. But it's winter, and my plan was always to buy the new car in November/December, and sell the old one in May/June. I reckon I can get at least $18,000 for it in June (on eBay/autotrader... it has 64,500 miles on it, but it's that georgeous Amulet Red color).
Frankly, I'm afraid to even take the A4 in for evaluation, since I suspect they'll give me a hard time getting it back once they have it up on the ramps.
What do YOU think? Would you even bother? My guess is they'll try to offer me $14k or less, and that's definitely a no go. In fact, if they offered much less than $16,000 then I'd rather keep both cars and sell the A4 privately in June (when folks *really* want to buy one).
