A/C high pressure switch (where is it?)
Hi guys,
Recently I did what is considered to be "the greatest sin ever" in the BMW community - I got myself Audi A4.
So far so good. It's 2.8 Q with factory sport package. Nice ride.
I was told by the previous owner that the high pressure switch is reported to be fault according to A/C control unit codes.
Could anyone please tell me is this an easy fix, where to get one and where to find it under the hood?
First I'll make sure the system has no leaks (although this would cause low pressure problems, I guess) and of course I'll make sure the pressure is within the limits.
Thank you for your help!
Ex-BMW dude

RE: A/C high pressure switch (where is it?)
Hi Jestnomen,
I'm glad too, although it seems bit more pricy to maintain.
I have no experience with A/Cs except for recharging it, but I do have some mechanical skills. I changed a clutch couple of times, did regular brake service, replaced couple of alternator, water pumps, etc...
To be honest with you, I can't afford taking it to a shop at this point, and I'm hoping to solve this before the warm weather comes.
Thank you!
Mihailo.

I've never worked on the AC system. This is the best I could come up with from audiworld.com

There is a bad picture posted of the switch.

Thank you! Now at least I know where to find it. Usually it only takes a good wrench some WD40 and of course recharging it after the work is done. I just hope my compressor is OK.
I've seen a lot of posts in regards to 1.8T mods. I guess 2.8 to 'familly' type of a car to be tweaked? I miss some of my old 325 acceleration...
Anyway, I appreciate your fast response.

It's 1997 - stock everything except for the sport package I have.

...also, I need to replace rear driver's side bearing, but I found quite detailed instructions online. Local PepBoys shop will press it in and out at no charge (?!) Some cool guys in the hood....
