The part you looking for is a heater core. Not any easier to replace but it has coolant not freon.

 

The heater core and the evaporator should be different parts. One has antifreeze and water in it, the other has R143a refrigerant.

 

tp replace the evaperator is just stupid. My AC is not working, I need to replace my evaperator, and my compressor...i got some good hook ups so i can get it all done for $1000 but I have been quoted $2000 from a couple different places. The evaperator is a 9 hr. labor job.

 

I tried the stop leak last year. It held for a short time. As it gets warmer, it leaks out. I'm wishing there were a way to get to the evaporator and repair the leak rather than replace it.
