BT setup
Who's running a gt71r or gtrs?? I've searched and searched but it seems that people who have been buying just the renn-art kit and no supporting mods have been blowing their engines when trying to push higher psi to get the claimed 400chp. What is the stock tranny hp limit before it splits? I'm looking for around 350 chp ~ 275awhp. Anyone who is running one a elim mind telling me their setup and supporting mods?
So far what I'm thinking is:
renn-art kit (injectors, FPR, a high flow exhaust manifold, 3in MAF, and tuning)
stage 3+ clutch and flywheel
larger oil and coolant lines
larger oil cooler
fmic
turbo inlet hose
engine/tranny mounts
3" turbo back exhaust
rods???
Anything I'm missing?

RE: BT setup
Are you running a B5 or B6? If B6, and you're set on running GTRS or GT71R then also look at http://www.eurocodetuning.com
Look for their "complete solution". That gives you the basics of what you'll need for both turbos. Clutch is a must but you can run stock for a while if you baby it and save up for a new clutch. FMIC is a must with that kit but you can run stock SMIC with the APR (not the best gains, but you can do it). On the APR, the TIP (inlet hose) comes inkit; with the GTRS you need to buy separate.
Rods aren't totally needed; depends on if you're running race gas and high boost/timing settings. Larger oil cooler? Haven't seen that run for the big turbos out of need. Couldn't hurt, I guess.
Basically, if you're going with Renn-Art, then ask them what you'll need.

RE: BT setup
It would be for a 98 1.8TQM b5. I just worried about throwing a rod or spliting the tranny. So basically I would just need what they supply in their kit clutch and fmic? Is that what you did, and how much psi are you running?

RE: BT setup
with 350chp you shouldn't need new rods. 400 is usually when people recommend it. also the bigger the a/r the less need for rods since the turbo kicks in later in the RPM. with a gt2871r .64 a/r it IS suggested you get rods, but with the gt2871 .86 a/r some people who run the setup are using stock rods and have no problem
