finally replaced hose....took forever but finally managed....no more oil and gas smell coming in through the dash vents and the car seems to be running smoother...could just be psychological.

Here is a stupid question - does the crankcase breather have anything to do with the boost/vacuum system?

right after the plastic tubing that connects to the crankcase there is a T. one tube goes to the PCV valve which is connected to the main intake tube after the air filter....the other tube goes through a few valves and finally connects to the intake manifold. so.....did that just confuse you as much as I already am?

if its connected to the PCV (pancake valve) then its in the system - I just ordered one last week from ECS tuning $46 for the S-tube and the T. but I have to wait for my samco TIP to get in (wed or thur) before they ship it to me. can't wait to fix it

What year is this recall on? Do you have a link to it or somthing that says there is a recall? - I looked in the "Recalls" at the top of the page when you said that but it doesn't say anything about the crankcase breather in my available recalls for my 98.

I found this link - its a great write-up on how to replace the entire PCV system. But you can pay attention to only the breather hose if you want.
