Break-in a new audi

Break-in a new audi
I'm picking up a brand new '06 A4 Quattro 2.0T Auto-Tiptronic tomorrow morning. It has like 20 miles on it. Does anyone have recommendations on 'breaking-in' a new audi? I've read mixed reviews, some say to break it in gently and some say drive it hard. I've even heard not to use synthetic oil for a while...

Lots of different opinions on this topic. The owners manual will have a few recommendations that you might want to follow.
I talked to the service manager when I picked up my audi. He said the car is pretty much needs no break in period. He said don't pound the breaks or take it up to redline for the first 200 miles....and that was it.
Search the archive...I put a link to a site in another thread on this subject. The link is pretty interesting, the guys theory is that you should drive the car hard from the beginning...taking it easy would actually be detrimental.
Pretty much, drive it like you plan on driving it....and have fun!

RE: Break-in a new audi
You engine is delivered from the factory already broken in. There is no break in period. However it cant hurt to do the usual routine for 500 miles or so. Dont take the engine to redline. Vary engine speed, dont cruise at constant engine speed. Do use synthetic oil. the reason your not supposed to use it to break in an engine is because it works to well at lubricating parts so they dont wear together. This process has already been done with your engine so theres no need to switch to regular oil for a brief period. Doing so would void your waranty.
