Default Brake Dust Question ??

I purchased on 03 1.8T a few months ago (have put about 3,000 miles on it) and have noticed that the rear tires get substantially more brake dust than the front tires. I find this to be strange since every other car I have had in my life the brake dust was always much worse in the front than the back. Any thoughts? If there is a problem with the rear brakes I would like to get them looked at while I am still in the 4 year warranty. Thanks!

Strange, isn't it? Yeah, that's just how these cars are. Don't worry, nothing's broke or anything. However, it would be nice to know why in fact that more brake dust accumilates in the rear than in the front.

I thought the back brakes may have been calibrated incorrectly, but it seems this might just be a result of the quattro...

My car does the same thing. I was actually getting ready to ask the same question about the brakes when I saw this thread.

Not only that, but it will take a lot longer to get covered in break dust. I try to do that everytime I wash, even if I dont wax the car.

i had a big break dust prob, so when i replaced my pads i went with some hawk low dust pads, this hepled but i still get quite of dust on my wheels. it pretty much boils down to dealing with it.

Its a B6 problem. Probably B7 too. B5 have less dust on the rear wheels more dust on the front.
