Default Boost Gauge problem!!! RAR.

Ok I've installed like 3 other gauges before and all have been fine.

I go to install my VDO (APR) center vent gauge and I run the vaccuum from the intake manifold through the firewall and under the dash. Run the vaccuum through the center vent out and connect it with the rubber tube from the intake manifold... and connect it to the back of the gauge..

Turn on and nothing.

I will note I did not connect the power to the gauge but on other ones I've done since its just boost pressure the power was never needed for the gauge to work. Are these VDO's different? On the instructions it even said you could skip power and apply it later on if needed.

What am i missing here? Is the gauge a dud or whats up? I did it text book to the instructions and common sense with working with vaccuum tubes, etc.

You ran off the line on the front of the intake mani? Check your "T" line really good. Also, the firewall could easily crimp the hose so check that as well.

ok i checked the rubber hose from the intake mani to through the firewall.. no crimps etc. the t is really good also.

ill remove the interior again and see if i pinched any of the nylon hosing and if so i picked some up to re-run the line

pinched line where the nylon tubing fed through the plastic behind the vents.

however im not too impressed with apr's vdo gauge the white is off from the white of the gauges and the fitment is kinda crappy to get the gauge pod to sit flush without sliding out, and for some reason there was a huge long bar (assuming this that has the rods on the end to hold the pod down) that sticks out so u have to remove the vent closing gate so its always open full.... rar!

if anybody has the awe gauge mount let me know, id be interested to hear how that fits in the center console compared to this one.

i have dvo with center kit. I did not hve a problem like that. I used it without connecting the electric cable because it is just for the light.

since you try this before, I assume that you connected T in right place.

keep the cable secure and run the car for couple seconds and see if you get any vacume end of the hose from inside of the car.

maybe your gauge is bad.

i got the gauge working now, there was a crimp in the white nylon that was causing a buildup.

my only concern now is that the gauge fitment kinds sucks like the pod can slide in and out rather easily.
