Default Blown turbo.....what should I do?

Well I took my car in to the shop today, and they confirmed it. It is indeed a blown turbo. The guy quoted me a price of $1600 for a new turbo, plus $320 labor, and $120 for "supplemental" parts. So basically i'm lookin at $2k for a new turbo.

So i guess this is where i ask for your help forum. What should I do? Should I just get the ko3 replaced for 2 grand? Or should i look into getting a ko4 put in? What all would upgrading to a ko4 entail? Would it be as reliable as a ko3, would i have to get the ECU reprogrammed. Would i need new injectors, a bigger intercooler? Just alot of questions. looking for some answers.

1st of all you can get k03's for like $200, and you can even get k04's now for like $700. If you have a manual deff go w/ a k04. All you need to do is get an exhaust and update your software.

Oh yeah and the "supplemental parts" I think refers to the install kit, which for a k04 is only $40. That place is tryin to rip you off. You need to find a respectable euro tuner to work on your car.

Thanks, that's really what i was hoping to hear. I thought $2k sounded a bit high. Well an obvious question would be....where would i find a ko4 for $700? I don't even know where to look.

yea its the right turbo but dont waste your time with the ebay crap. I just got mine for $695 shipped from eurocode tuning, they might still have some if you give them a call tommorrow. I also got the install kit for $40. I would bet that the k04 on ebay will hit around $800, people dont realize you can buy them from a tuner for cheaper.
