Blow Out.........
Hi Guys!!!!
Test Day yesterday, and on my way to my 13:00 appointment, i come to a spot called "brockerbeck" a very long straight down hill section that tapers for a bridge at the bottom then back up a long straightthe other side, that you can hit at great speeds..[8D]
But as i hit the bottom of this bridge ( just steady away cos it was test day) my engine management light came on and then a bang, then a "pop! pop! pop! pop! pop!"[&:][:@][]
First thought Timing belt...... But no what it was was a spark plug had poped out, the threads weren't damaged that much so managed to get it back in with the trusty SCREWFIX socket set....
She flew thru the test and seems to be OK... (Good Girl)
could this have been just one of them things or is she hiding a greater problem.........Any ideas....[&:]

RE: Blow Out.........
Wow! Never heard of that happening before!
I believe that the "head" is Aluminum and the plug body is steel. If the threads have been damaged it would be on the head which is a much more serious issue. You need to have someone check the "minor diameter" on the thread pitch (on the head) and check that for damage.

Strange... I have heard of this before from someone on here... Im sure theyll speak up when they see this... I think he had the kind of coil packs that sort of pop in and are screwed down... maybe that design has something to do with it, if thats the kind you have.

RE: Blow Out.........
Well, if you are fortunate the plug was not tightened down when it was installed and it just worked its way loose. If you're less fortunate then the threads in the head are stripped and the plug may pop out again.
AFAIK there's an insert that can be put in to repair stripped threads. Basically they drill the hole bigger and then put a self tapping insert in that has a new threaded hole for the plug, then the plug is screwed into that. So it isn't the end of the world even if it is stripped.
