Default Bloody car help needed

I have had my w reg Audi a4 avante for 2 years with no real problems(had to replace catalytic con at last mot) Then I went on holiday for a month, when I got back the battery had died, I charged it and it wouldn't start. 2 AA guys looked at it and a mobile auto electritian and they said it was a power problem and it needed a garage.
I took it to a specialist auto electrical garage and they replaced the battery and some fuses and it started fine. The mot was nearly up so I got it straight in and it failed.
Problems where bits and pieces(hoses and ball joints etc) and the imisions. So they changed the lambda sensor and the camshaft sensor and the fuel filter but said it was still high. Then they said it was the cat which they had only changed on last years mot. So they changed that under warranty and it passed. I then got the oil and filter changed as it needed it and I had a longish journey planned for today.
So this morning I pack up the car with my girlfriend and 2 massive dogs get on the motorway and the car doesn't feel right at all. When your foots on the floor it isn't picking up speed as it should and also there's a quick loss of power(maybe a second) when accelerating sometimes, then it picks up again.
So my plans a ruined and I'm already £500 down from the mot. Anyone got any ideas what's wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Steve
