hahaha, oh man... this made me laugh

to make that crap come off a little easier, use a wheel cleaner with teflon, and a good stiff bristle car wash brush

Every VW and Audi I have had has the black brake dust. Not a big deal to keep clean.

there are some pads you can get, called "green stuff" i think that are made especially for minimal break dust to keep your rims looking nice, sposta have some nice stopping power to go along with them.

ok....the mechanic was right..someone switched your good pads with awful cheap pads. What you need to do is when you go get your car serviced again tell them to give you high performence brakes, what happens is that the cheap pads are mixed with metal. If you hold a high performence pad and compare it to a cheap one you'll see that the cheap one has shine, tiny metal pieces while the high performence doesn't, its just black. The metal in the cheap pads causes the pad to crystalize which means the surface turns similar to glass. thats why they squeel when you brake. Just talk to the mechanic that said the same as me and he'll put the GOOD pads on your ride. They cost a little more but its worth it. The black dust in pad dust which is caused by ware of the pad, it will always be there but the cheaper the pad is the more dust there'll be. You can look for dust protectors which are covers, simlar to drum brakes (google it) which goes over the brake and keeps the dust inside....
