big question ahead of me, need some input!
wussup all, been gone a while. I am deployed again in the middle east.
and i have a big decision when i get home in about a month about my car.
ok before i left i was noticing a "knocking" sound coming from my front left tire well area.
it really only happens when i make a right turn....
but when i go over some good sized bumps while cruising it also makes that knocking sound.
i talked to a tech thats my girlfriends bestfriends husband. hes been a tech for like 5-6 years. he says it most likely is the axle???
ok that right there sounds like $$$
so that aside, thats the only real maintence that needs to be done beside some minor stuff.
also when i got the car in November last year, i couldnt pass the deal on it. 99 1.8tq 75k for only 8,000$
body was great and all, engine everything.
the only downfall is the color. white....
i dont like white cars. interior is that two tone, navy blue, and tan.
so ya....
im thinking of either fixing it up and paiting it, or selling/trading it in for either a newer model a4 or just something else.
i would really appreciate some input for some of you guys that have had you audi's for some time.
thanks alot guys.

RE: big question ahead of me, need some input!
Glad you are back in one piece.
Knocking sound on turns sounds like CV joint/half shaft replacement. Aftermarket parts and not very exensive, nor should labor be. Labor cost of replacing the CV joint is pretty close to that of a half-shaft, so most people do the same thing.
Knocking sound over bumps is likely strut mount.
As long as you are in there might as well do front control arms.

Before you buy parts, have someone diagnose what you need. Then go to the helpful links section for sites on the net that sell parts. Two good and reliable ones, are getcool parts.com (look over to the right side of the screen for the ad) and ecstuning.com.
Maybe if you have cash, it is time to upgrade yous suspension.
