Bentley info needed for Thermostat installation
Earlier today I posted some questions about overheating after doing a Timing belt replacement on the 12v engine in my B5.
Ecartoys asked if the thermostat was installed with the arrow pointing up. I responded that I placed the "jiggle" valve up. That may be my problem. I ripped into it, and discovered that the arrow was pointing DOWN! I installed it according to the Haynes "VW Passat and Audi A4" manual. It states that the "jiggle" valve must be installed facing up. They even show a picture on 3-3. The jiggle valve is on the opposite side, so which one is it?
Could someone with a Bentley look up and see if the arrow goes vertical or the jiggle valve.
In most other items on a car (pisons, etc) arrows are placed in the up position. I knew this, but decided to "follow" the Haynes manual.
If the arrow goes up, the Haynes manual is a pile of SH_T.
Thanks again.
