belly pan???
So apparently I dont have a belly pan or its broken... But I haven't been having any problems with it.
I have a lowered 2000 1.8T , I bought it like that.. so i guess the previous owner took it off.
what is it?
what does it do?
do I need it???

RE: belly pan???
It just protects the underside of the engine from water/dirt/rocks/killer squirrels
You probably want one on there, if nothing else to protect from water splashing up to far in the engine bay, like if you went through a big puddle .

RE: belly pan???
Hum I wonder if it's a problem with the 2000 1.8T
I got a 2000 1.8T last month and it also was missing he belly pan. I need to check an make sure it isn't missing any of the mounting brakets etc before I buy one though. anyone have any ideas why they would be gone.. I'm sure they dont' likely just fall off on the street. how much do they weight?

RE: belly pan???
We call that the "oil pan" here on the other side of the pond.
The belly pan (or dirt shield) is made of plastic, its not heavy.
You can get a new one for around $50 either from a dealer or somewhere like www.ecstuning.com
