Default Beefier transmission/clutch?

This is still a ways off, but I'm curious about what you guys would recommend as a good transmission/clutch combo upgrade to go along with a K04 turbo upgrade?

When I upgraded to the K04 I also put in a South Bend / Unorthodox Racing clutch and flywheel. Here is the link.

South Bend Clutch

It cost me about $1000.00 shipped. Great clutch IMO. Drives a bit different, grabs a lot more in first and second. Takes a bit more gas to get off the line. Third is still long and strong. I still have the stock tranny, it's been fine with my other upgrades. Hope this helps, let me know what oyu think about the South Bend / Unorthodox site and products.

"costed me"? what was that?

So you don't have to upgrade the trans at all? Just the clutch? Mind you, this will go on an S4 with K04 turbos.

Looked around the site a little bit. It could use some work. It seems a little difficult to navigate.

Yeah, I agree on the site needing a bit of work. Your tranny should be fine with your stock tranny and K04's. Actually I didn't realize you were talking S4. Just to be sure, I'd call them and verify that. I got the clutch good for 240 ft./lbs. of torque, you'll probably want to look into the DXD series, stage II or III. I've been more than happy with mine, although there is definitely a break in period. Mine was about 600 miles or so. Keep me posted on what you end up doing, I'm interested to hear what you decide.

I definitely will. The turbo upgrade I'm speaking of in particular is the APR K04. At this point I know for sure I will have to get a stronger clutch to handle the 400 hp, but I don't wanna get all that stuff installed only to find out the transmission will drop out under the added stress. So I guess I'm not really asking about the clutch, but moreso if it'll be safe to run the stock transmission.

APR has K04 now????? Or are you talkin about the stage III? Does that use K04? I was going to go with GIAC chip for future K04 but prefer APR since there is a dealer near by. More info????

Yeah they do. Keep in mind I'm talkin about an S4 here so it's a little different. Check it out, I can't wait til I have enough money to throw this sucker under the hood!!

They have kits for the 1.8 but they aren't K04s . You should still check it out though, their other kits are still pretty sweet.

Yeah, I'd like to keep it in the APR family as well if I can.
