Either axle or transmission.... I was entering a high way hard. Car stop accereta at 3th gear. All the gears are like N. Fifth gear makes grainding noise but still same... Car do not move anywhere. Friend will towe the car tomorrow and we'll see what the damage is on monday.

Hope not transmission, otherwise I'll get 2.8 trans, I think. I did not wanna spent my tax return on the car but I think I have to now.

Any place to get 2.8 Transmission for my car ? (1998 Audi A4 1.8T Q 5speed, AEB engine)

Nop. I did not even hear anything. I did WOT till 80mph I think then it did not want to go anymore.

 

must have something to do with the axle install you recently had since thingsdidnt seem/drive quite right RIGHT after the install. I personally doubt its a tranny problem, but more of an axle/CV joint thing... Hopefuly. Keep us informed.

 

Could be a linkage problem., i remember on my cousins saab a vaccum hose got stuck in front of the shift mechanism and he just ended up grinding the gears or the gears just felt like neutral.
