B6 Air Box Mods?? DIY - waste of time?
I was reading about the airbox mod for the B5 DIY style ..... drilling holes and such .... and I was wondering if anyone has done something similar on the B6 ... or is the proceedure identical? I am hesitant to just start drilling holes in sh**t. I talke to a guy at Bahn Brenner in Oregon .. which is a very repectable tuner company i believe ... and I asked aout intake. He said that if I am running basically a stock set up ...... that the stock air box is great ... unless i am looking to show off my intake, he said to keep it stock. I have an 02 A4 1.8t Avant Tip, Revo chip, K&N Air Filter, and soon to have an AWE Exhaust. Keep the air box stock ..... or ttry some DIY action to increase performance (if that is even possible) any thoughts out there from the A4 experts??

dude beleive it or not the stock setup is pretty good compared to other cars. its nice and short and lets cold air get in there. the airbox mod is a good idea also. I've heard it will be much better once winter rolls around and there is 25 degree air getting sucked in there. (mostly for sound effects on the turbos) personally I'm going to get a spare box once i get some cash and have both setups for both seasons. Or fabricate a piece of metal or plastic that can be slipped in between the fender and the box and taped down so the holes are blocked for the hot summer months. I also have a CAI which cost about $50 from K&N filters. but its too hot this summer to use that. I've heard the boxmod gives you the DV sound and much louder turbo spool which is always nice but may get annoying on a daily driver.

ya id skip it for the summer and go for it in the winter. The sound that the airbox mod/intake makes is very nice though for the turbo and dv. i dont get annoyed by it, but in this hot weather it feels a little laggy down low beloow 2500 rpms.

i think it might get a bit more air in there, i dont think it would hurt... if your aching to do a DIY then go ahead... i dont even have a turbo and love the sound of it
