B6 A4 Auto On/Off Headlights
I can't say that the two are related as it seems strange, but still here's my ordeal.
When I start my car if it is in a dark spot, my headlights come on (I have it on Auto, which I like). If I drive out somewhere Sunny (I am in a garage every morning so they come on), then the lights dont seem to go off. Strange...
If I start my car in the sun and then go in the dark, they seem to go off/on perfectly.
The only thing that I added recently was I hooked up the ILLumination wire for my AVIC-Z1 headunit, which seems to work perfectly.
So where is the sensor for the light? Any thoughts on whats up?

A few months ago I was bored and thought that might be it. I covered that and hoped my lights would turn on but they didnt. I wondered if it was more then one sensor or a different sensor. Ah well.

auto lights, that's a new one to me, most cars with auto light have the sensor on the dash board, it looks like a little plastic bubble sticking up thru the dash.

Theres quite a few light sensors in most vehicles. Theres the one on the dash for the ac. The radio has a couple for radio illumination brightness. If you have auto dimming mirrors theres two in the rearview mirror And the newer cars with the auto wipers also have one in the mirror base to control the auto dimming lights and the auto wipers.
