B6 2002 A4 Wagon w/Bose Symphony
Hello all, finally re-joined the Audi family again. Here is my ?
For my taste im fine with the sound of the Bose system. I want to install my amp and sub while retaining the stock HU. I previously used the line converter tapped behind the HU and ran RCA from there into the amp.
A shop told me that his A4 sedan had the Bose package and under the headboard in the rear was the Bose amp. He said that the Bose amp was fitted with an RCA connection to add an amp. He said that it came that way from Bose. Any truth to this? This would allow me not to use the line converter.
I have a wagon and found the Bose amp or at least one of them (dont know how many there are suppose to be). The amp was above the passanger side rear weel well. All I saw was a harness that I assume is just an in from HU and out to speakers. The stock sub sits below the amp and you can see the obvious wiring from the sub to the Bose amp.
As you can see im looking for an alternative to using the line converter and w/o replacing the HU.
FYI... I tried to find a thread in regards this before I popped the question w/out any luck.
Thanks in advance,
MO

There are tons of posts on adding subs and amps without using converters (just search for "sub" and "converter"). Short answer for bose systems - pick up a line level output at the rear amp, and ditch the converter.

Thanks VitaminB6... Im wondering if the line out is only on the sedans? I have a wagon and when I found the tiny amp in the right rear, it had no output with RCA's.
I will also refine my search a bit.
Thanks,
