b5 1.8t auto trans strong??
i see most of you guys have chips, zorsts, coolers etc. which of you guys are running the auto, and have you had any dramas with the increased power output? when my auto got flushed a couple of weeks ago the oil was a bit grey like something alloy inside was wearing..the guy who said the 5sp audi trans is the same as the 5series bmw 4 speed of a few years ago and said he has seen them last as little as 80000 miles. apparently some drum rubs on a thrust bearing made of alloy and if it breaks its big $$. having the oil dropped in abother 5000kms to see what it looks like.
i wish i had a manual

i havent heard of any problems like that, and my parents friend is a mechanic and before i bought my 5spd, he told me to make sure i get a 5spd european car because it's harder to break down and easier to fix, so w/e goes wrong with it he said he will fix it

I'm assuming you have the tiptronic? If so, they're a very strong transmission. A couple of issues is Audi states that the transmission fluid is lifetime. It is not and should be changed every 60,000 miles or so.
here's a good FAQ about the tiptronic and the power and torque it can handle:

fanuvbrak, I dont think you cant really call the auto tranny the trip/autp tranny "very strong" Im am pretty sure the tranny can only hold about 270pd/tq. Which is a mildly tuned ko4. Correct me if im wrong.
