Awful noise under hood but no warnings diplayed! Help please!
A4 1.8T
Just got back from christmas vacation and hadnt driven car in 2 weeks. Immediatley after starting the car I could hear a skreetching noise from under the hood, there are no emergency, messages or anything on dash. It sounds like its coming from the timing belt area. The car runs fine and is topped with all fluids. If I turn the steering wheel back and forth occasionaly there will be a spot where the noise completly stops.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

what year is this car?
I had something something similar which wasn't too too bad, Check the serpentine belt(huge belt that goes around the front of the car) if it is worn out or not and if you took a hard bump or rough driving one of the pulleys sadly might be bent...
Belt = 30 dollars labor to put it in 80 dollars if you can't do it.
pulley wise, depends which one...

Thanks for reply
Thanks for the reply, but the next day I took my car to the shop and on the way there my timing belt, which was the noise, finally snapped. Thus practically destroying my engine. Fortunalty there is a class action law suit against audi because of the timing belt going early and causing such damage. So audi corporate is covering the $6,000 bill and im driving an 2010 a4 until its fixed. Sometimes things just work out.
