Audi's Systemic Electrical Problems - Take Action?
Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread and decided to join after experiencing a host of electrical problems with my 2004 A4, purchased as a Pre-owned Audi in March 06. In the past 6 months I've experienced the following:
- Burned bulbs: Left/Right headlights, left front turnsignal, left taillight, bulb illuminating headlight/foglight dial next to steering wheel
- Dead sparkplug: Resulted in a tow
- Sunroof randomly opening/closing to vent
After searching this forum and a few others, it seems that Audi's have inherent electrical flaws, especially pertaining to bulbs. Personally, I think its criminal for them to get away with this. Would anyone like to join me in fighting this? We can send letters or do whatever it takes to get recognition. Its not right that we pay $20k-$40k for cars who are in the shop on average once a month.
Not to mention my experience with Audi's service deptarment has been terrible.
I live in the Philadelphia area, please let me know if anyone is interested in taking this matter further.

All those things could surprisingly point to one thing, which is an alternator on its way out. I have heard of some CRAZY things happening to Audi's when the alternator is going. If its not that, id say you got a lemon.

Audi doesn't make spark plugs. OEM are made by NGK.
Check your fuses and your voltage regulator.
Bulbs also burn out. They are wear items. Headlight and tail light bulbs burn out. None of these items require trips to the shop. They are 10 minute IDY.
fortunately your are covered by their warranty and they will be fixed without charge.

David9999,
Audi may not make sparkplugs, but they're connected to the electrical system correct?
Bulbs burn out, but 6 in 6 months? Not to mention on and off again. Turn on the headlights, they work, then stop working, then work again, then stop working permanently?
Thankfully covered by their warranty for now. Their service department is putrid.

Real quick... point I was attempting to make with the sparkplugs was that, if they are connected to the electrical system then they'd be vulnerable to any electrical problem, i.e., faulty alternator. Correct?
