Uh oh. The encryption algorithm for Audi key fobs has been hacked. What does this mean? Well apparently that you can start the car without the key.
Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini & Porsche models susceptible to theft as Megamos Crypto is broken
Might want to start parking your car with a boot, or keep a bicycle handy, lol.
I wonder what, if anything, can be done to defend against this.

lol. not much of a deterent.
you could lojack your car but that's only useful after it's been stolen. it'd be interesting to see if there were a way to prevent it from happening. ideally an inexpensive way.
this is certainly a more sophisticated way to steal a car, i guess don't **** off anyone who's a computer/computer science whiz. However, if the paper is released to the public i'm sure someone could make/sell a device that's idiot proof, and anyone can use it.
I'm sure Audi and the other companies can fix this in new cars, but that doesn't help us much who already have one.
