Audi Quality???

RE: Audi Quality???
All those issues have been address. It was due to low oil capacity, that was then corrected with a larger oil filter. Also many drivers dont listen/read the manuals and still use 87oct and reg oil. These dont help.

RE: Audi Quality???
I know cincy. I already said that. Maybe my post should have been the quailty of my Audi? lol
Oh no fing clue how the ashtray broke?????? Just like that one day. Maybe something feel off my seat and hit it. Oh and how did I know? I detail my car every week.
As far as getting another Lexus goes I will be keeping the audi for a while. Over all it is a good car. Just had a lot of problems in 40k.

one bad example? type "oil light" or "oil pressure" in the search tab and see how many examples come up. i agree that it can be hit or miss. i have friend with a chipped 00 1.8t passat who has had a very pleasant experience with the car (other than it still being pretty slow) but after looking at the consumer reports its clear that there is a trend with the overall quailty of audi's and especially with the 1.8t engine. im not saying if you 1.8t you're screwed.
chaos: its my experience that lexus's are extremly reliable however they lack in some driving characteristics that i admire in the audi. in other words they are boring! it has been several years though and the new lexus's look to be a huge improvment over the older ones which is why im considering one (the new IS-f is a work of art). though i find it hard to pull the trigger on my 1999 a4 as the engine still runs great!

In no way do I wanna change anyones mind!!!!! I don't wanna take away from the good quailtys of Audi. Just the little stuff gets under my skin. Like I have said 10 times in this thread. Audi makes a good car. Fit and finish could be steped up. But overall great car.

I do feel for you man, some cars just have their gremlins.
just like you to try to start conflict. He wanted to rant and allanyone told him was that he had more misfortunes than Audi being bad quality. They do have their problems, but all cars do.

well all i ment by that was i can see his point about quailty and i agree with it. when i say your not gunna change anyone's mind on here, basically what im saying is: save you're breath. no one on here is gunna care what you say, they will continue to deffend the quailty, fit and finish (call it what you will) of thier audi to the death, no matter what you say. thats all...

RE: Audi Quality???
I bough a 2000 A4 1.8t with 88k miles while it had a check engine light, from the moment I looked at the engine and the carfax report, I knew that it was going to be something minor so I bought it because they were giving it away like 2k cheaper. When I took it home, I found the airpump shot and a cracked hose going to the MAF. The car seems like its built great and it makes my day every time I drive it, I actually find reasons to go driving. I had a 94 civic before this and one of the exhaust valves completely broke in half after 150k miles, I fixed it myself and it has been running great and already has 198k miles on it, I beat on it every day of my life. So what I am trying to say is that japanese cars do have great quality but things happen and every car breaks. The audi seems to break more because its so complicated. All I had to worry about with my civic was the engine itself because it was so simple, but when something breaks on an audi, its just usually something like a sensor or a pump, not the engine itself.
