audi for a newb
Whats up fellas. New here. I'm looking for a nice car with a very comfortable interior, at first I was looking at older mercedes, but after looking at some A4's I think I want one now. The thing is I wont have too much money, maybe 5,500 atmost. Is it possible to get an older A4 for around 6k? I wouldnt mind getting a car with alittle over 100k miles. The thing is I dont want to get an A4 if its not a 1.8T Quattro. What kind of Audi's am I looking at for 5k? And keep in mind my father can get me into the dealer auctions so I should be able to find a deal. What kind of problems will I encounter with an Audi with 100k miles?

Timing belt is going to be your biggest concern... do a search and you will find a lot of info there. Basically, change it before 80k miles. If you buy a car with 100k and you don't know if it's been done, do it IMMEDIATELY.
Control arms are another common thing...they can be fixed for about 500 in parts.

Thanks. Ill do some more searches on problems. As for the prices, will I be able to find one for around 5k?
Lets say I buy my car from an auction, is there a way to tell if the timing chain has been changed? I'd rather not have to change it but I can see its necessary so I'll have to find one thats had it done.
