Ok so I got my coolant flushed and my heater core unblocked yesterday because my heat was not blowing warm whatsoever.

Now, it gets VERY warm when I am driving(any speed) but when I am stopped @ a stop light or just idleing the temperature gets alot cooler.

WHAT CAN CAUSE THIS? PLEASE HELP! ASAP! THANKS everyone!

 

That's easy.... The coolant flows to the heater exchanger (heater core) via the water pump... The higher the engine is reving, the more coolant flows through your heat exchanger... When your car is idling, there's very little pushing the coolant through the heat exchanger which explains very little warm air entering the cabin.... I'd guess there is a faulty valve somewhere that is not letting as much coolant flow through to your H.E. when you raise the heat on the console.

 

Ok so what do you recommend doing? Is this a major problem? Any idea how much this would cost?

 

What do I recommend doing???

NOTHING.

That's the nature of the beast.... When the car is idling, it won't give you nowhere near as much heat as when it is revving.... If you think it's blatantly out of the norm for your car then take it to a mechanic you trust and have it diagnosed but if I were you I'd just watch it closely to see if there are any leaks or drastic changes in it's ability to heat the cabin.

if its doing that, the first thing I would guess is that either the coolant is low, or the system is not properly bled.

Once the car is at operating temp, you should get fairly consistant heat whether moving or idling.

 

if it bothers you jsut sit on the accelerator while at a Light then it will flow fairly well all the time, seriously the time you are at a lgith wont do crap to the cabin temp jsut deal and if your gf\wife\mom says its to cold buy her a parka

 

Sounds like system is still partially blocked or not fully bled.

 

again sticking thermostat it seems to be common in hot places not here though in the UK

 

why are you running your heat in August?
