Audi A4 Heat Problem...NEED HELP ASAP!
OK, so it is 0 degrees by me right now and I have absolutely NO HEAT in my 99' A4. I have had the coolant flushed about 10-15 times and it gets a little warmer but not enought.
And now they told me it could be the Thermostat, and now I also noticed that the Thermostat on the cluster only goes about 1/4 of the way. Do you think the Thermostat will fix this problem? I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem since it costs like $700 to fix. THANKS!

If your temp gage is reading cool, then it's your thermostat, as it's stuck open.
Your engine will run better at normal temperature.
If the engine is running at normal temp, then the valve sending hot water to the heater core is not opening correctly. / and or the controls are malfunctioning.

How many miles are on your 99 A4? It might be time to do the timing belt, t-stat, water pump, tensioners and all that anyways. If so, have an independent shop do allthat for probably around 700-800 dollars rather than $800 from the dealer just to fix the t-stat.

I just had this problem, too. It happened in conjunction thelow coolant warning light indicator appearing upon startup. The mechanics at my dealership said the car needed a complete radiator replacement. Which cost me $1,100. Ouch.
The heat now works again, and the indicator light doesn't turn on anymore.

I highly suggest avoiding dealership mechanics. Find a good local independent shop that specializes in european cars (vw, audi, porsche) for the work you can't do yourself, especially one that lets you buy your own parts.
