Audi A4 Audio - SD Memory Cards
I am the proud owner of an A4 w/ every toy but the tire pressure gauge ;-)
The other day I loaded up one of my SD cards with about 20 CD's (in seperate directories) and noticed days later that half of the CD's were missing. I am using 2GB cards and was wondering if anyone else has had this issue. You can't trust the AUDI manual as it says the unit will only support something like a 256k card.
Thanks
Chris

Apparently they are limited to 256K card, but I have read of people using 2 GB cards no problem.
However - the issue you are probably having is file name length. Audi's system only recognizes songs up to a certain file name length, which is fairly short if I recall - the others will not even appear to be on the car, even though they are.

Is this for the RNS-E? Yes like said above, check and cut down file name length.
Use proper ID tags. If Your MP3 don't have enough "silent space" at the beginning of the track can cause this, you will need to open your MP3 in sound editing software and add 1-2 seconds.ve, file name length. Also use a badwith quality of 160kbps when converting songs to MP3. The RNS-E doesn't need anything higher than this.

RE: Audi A4 Audio - SD Memory Cards
dumb question- You say you loaded 20 CDs in "different directories." Does that mean different folders? I tried doing this and as soon as the MP3s were in folders, they weren't recognized any more. I am trying to figure out a way to get the MP3s to show up as something other than a long list of songs. I can't figure out how to get the NAV+ to recognize playlists either. Any insight?
