RE: ATP GT2X VS GT28RS TURBO SETUP
Haha renn its all the timing becuase the ko4 isnt going to make enough boost for those tq num. I agree tho, 28r/28rs is def where its at for road racing. The 28r is prolly a better all around chioce for autox and such.

RE: ATP GT2X VS GT28RS TURBO SETUP
if you know how to do it, the bigger turbo will be better... just rev it to 4-5000 rpm (with a strong clutch) and go!! =) takes some practice, but you'll beat anything!

RE: ABT GT2X TURBO SETUP
Hi, I recently purchased a 99 Audi A4 1.8T and have a few general questions I was hoping someone could answer. I have owned and tuned a few honda's in the past and finally moved up to an Audi quattro so I could have awd. I am planning to purchase the GT28RS turbo but need to know a few things first.
#1- How many PSI can the stock 1.8T engine handle?
#2- If I purchase the GT28RS turbo will I need to rebuild the internals of the engine in order to run enough boost to see the larger hp/t gains?
#3- Are their any companys that seel the GT28RS turbo as a kit. (wastegate, downpipe, manifold, injectors, intercooler etc.)
#4- With the GT28RS turbo would you recommend the use of a FMI?
#5- What manifold, downpipe, injectors, ecu, intercooler etc. would you recommend to go with this kit.
I appreciate any help offered. Thanks.

RE: ABT GT2X TURBO SETUP
#1: Jeff is running 30 PSI on stock
#2: No, internals not needed. Maybe new rods, but as long as your in there doing rods.. you might as well do pistons and head stud bolts and build the motor.
#3: ATPTurbo.com
#4: YES - Improper cooling will produce less dense and hotter air. Which will be lower HP numbers. Cooler=BETTER esp. with a high HP output turbo
#5: The kit comes with evertyhing except ECU, Injectors, and FMIC. There are alot of good FMIC out there just find a good price. or get a core that will fit and custom the piping. As for injectors.. sorry i dont know this one but I would assume you need higher than 300.... 475+ would be ideal for high boost scenarios. ECU... not alot of companys have a good GT28RS tune.. standalone ALWAYS works but ATP has some programming.
Other than that let me know

RE: ABT GT2X TURBO SETUP
Holy geez how did i miss this post...i see a lot of misinfo and misconceptions here...
I have had both the ko4, the ko4 pc-16, and the big a/r gt28rs and launched properly the gt28rs will decimate the ko4 to 60. One thing ppl always complain about is lag, and they thing this will hurt 0-60 times. the thing you must understand is that from a stop you are only off boost untill about 3500rpm, and then from then on you are on boost in every gear. the ko4 is about 3200 rpm and the gt28rs makes more tq through the gears than the ko4 will. the ko4 has a tq advantage at the beginning of first and thats it. Both can hit the 60' mark in 1.7 if driven properly.
Also I have nvr seen a ko4 on any file, even the j31 file which runs 27psi, hit 350 ft/lbs, i think 300ft/lbs is about the limit
just had to clear that up. ppl have the misconception that a gt28rs is huge and had lits of lag, but if u step on it at 3500rpm or abouts you are immediatly at full boost, at that rpm or higher it hits full boost just as fast as a ko4. I;ve had both, both are blast, but the gt28rs will take the ko4 to pretty much any speed except maybe 20 or below
