APR snub mount and vibration
Hey everyone, i just have quick question.
i know that after installing my APR snub mount that it caused the car to shake moreso than before, but does your front grill shake? and if so, what did you do to eliminate that noise caused by the shake?
thanks

RE: APR snub mount and vibration
i dont want to shave it, because i know of the vibrations caused by it. it's just really weird that my front grill shakes like it does. i think my front grill is just loose
i was hoping that someone else would have had the same problem and maybe a remedy for it

It probably needs to be shaved down to elimate the vibration. Search the archives it's a frequently asked question.

RE: APR snub mount and vibration
I've had my APR snub on for a week. After reading many posts about vibration, I was surprised to find there was no noticeable increase in vibration at idle (or anywhere through the rpm range). Do you have a b5 or a tip? The greater vibration for a tip has been well documented in this forum.
One thing I was very careful to do was make sure that the snub did not touch the basket at all before tightening up the bolts. There was only 1 to 2 mm of clearance but looks like this was enough. I read about people pushing the basket against the lower part of the snub to minimize the movement of the engine, but I find that this wasn't needed for smooth shifts.
Could just be that my car is still pretty new (16,000 miles) and so the motor mounts are more solid and the idle smoother...

RE: APR snub mount and vibration
oh yea, when I first installed it, there was a lot more vibration. But I take 250-300 mile trips every weekend. So it settled in there nicely and quickly. My a4 has 176,438 miles and the only vibration NOW is the brakes, but they were already pretty bad before I setup my little auto-x course, that wore the living sh|t out of them.
