Any thoughts?
I was looking around to buy an A4 and came across this. http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/car/447475280.html
Seems like a reasonable price and everything, upon closer inspection it looks like the passenger side front bumper is not exactly mounted tight. There is a gap and this makes me wonder if there has been some kind of accident previously to the car. Before i buy any car i will be car-faxing it. Just wanted input from people and what they may think the reason would be as to cause this problem.

nah. that bumper's got a really weird mount system, sometimes i get that gap too, if i'm lazy putting the bumper back on. maybe he had the tb job done or did it himself, and just didnt get the bumper matched up right.

same gap on my car. here's what i think happened. when they did the timing belt, they pulled on the bumper to remove it. the plastic cover of the bumper is attached to the metal of the bumper by a series of prongs (6) that go into the metal from the plastic. when pulling on mine, they pulled the plastic out of the holes and never pushed them back in. by the time i figured this out, i couldn't get the plastic to stay in the whole, so i used a series of quick lock nuts and screws to hold the plasitc part of the bumper in the holes/in their proper place/closing the gap and keeping it that way.
in short, looks like the bumper plastic is disconnected from the metal, and its weight pulls it down in front. wish i had my camera, i'd just shoot some pics.
post if you want to know where to look to assess. $3 repair once i figured it out.
the gap under the front pass headlight is exactly how mine started.
